Anthropomorphic figurine with belt

Strongly flattened figurine. The lower part of the legs is broken. The head is large, slightly out of proportion, well modeled. The face is flat, broad. Eyebrows and a nose with wide wingsare are carved with lines on it. The face is framed by a protruding hood-type headdress, covered with wavy lines. Shoulders are narrow, breast is flat and saggy, presented in low relief. The tummy is rounded and flat. The pelvis is raised up. Thin hands are folded on the tummy. The legs are separated by a deep line. The figure has a partially black surface.

Manufacturing technique

Two tools were used while creating this sculpture: a planning knife and a burin. Traces of planning are marked on the back of the thighs, on the calves of the legs, on the back and upper breast. Shoulders and the contour of the head, as well as the relief of the raised upper parts of the thighs, are made with a planning knife. All other elements of the figure are made with a burin. At the last stage, grinding and polishing were used (most likely with leather). Forming grinding is made by soft material, but on a hard surface. Grinding is marked in the face and lower part of the flattened abdomen. A narrow belt, made with probably a burin, separates a lower part of tummy, breast and womb. It divides the sculpture into two parts. From the belt down at an angle, there is a line with a length of 7.01 mm (a dagger-?).
