Sculpture blank

This is a blank of a sculpture, close to the final stage. It is an unfinished image of a woman, with a highlighted head, torso and legs. The head is massive, on the back of the head there are parallel, obliquely located lines that transmit hair. The short upper torso is well separated from the raised pelvis. Legs are separated only in front.

Manufacturing technique

While making the figurine, two tools were used. With the help of a planning knife, the contour of the item was made. The traces of the planning knife are observed on the thighs of the item. Probably, the gutter was made also with a knife. With the help of a burin, the front part of the chest and legs is flattened, so that almost one plane is obtained. The same burin was used to deepen the groove separating the head from the body and under the left arm. The back of the head, back, buttocks were planned with a knife. The legs are extended with a burin.
