The androgyne (the Central pendant of the necklace)

The pendant is a central element of the necklace from the child's burial. Its central part looks like "8" and is similar to the other pendants from the necklace. The figure has the form of a rounded massive body of oval shape with elongated conical protrusions extending in different directions. At the upper end there is a rounded hole used for hanging. The surface of the figurine is covered with non-deep "cupulas" forming the parallel rows.

The figurine is a polyeykonic image combining the signs of images of a two-pointed phallus (elongated conical protrusions) and female symbols (vulva - oval body) (in a horizontal position). Also it can be seen as an imafe of pregnant woman (in the in the vertical position). A convex protruding part of the middle zone of the sculpture considered to be a round tummy (on the eve of birth). And the opposite gently rounded and less prominent part considered as buttocks.
