Diadem with rhombus

A fragment of an ivory diadem. The item is slightly bent. There is a through-hole along the left edge of the item. On the front side, there are notches and scratches. The central scratches form a strip of three parallel lines. The whole image is not found.

Manufacturing technique

The drilling of the through-hole was made with a reamer from both sides. Double-sided flaring of the hole is noticed. The outer surface is not ornamented and treated with a push-plane. The surface has notches and scratches as well as traces of dendrites. The surface is partially polished. There is a crack close to one of the edges. The plate's corners are broken from both sides. The inner side of the plate is treated with a push-plane and polished.

Use-wear traces

We notice traces of high degree of wear of the through-hole. These can tell us about permanent contact with, probably, a string (i.e. the item was used in a bunch).
