A fragment of a diadem

A plate fragment is slightly bent, not ornamented. Dark surface is partially remained. The outer side has traces of dendrites. The dark surface has two parallel scratches which run diagonally along the remained surface. Also we can see some other scratches which do not form the whole image (probably, the beginning of the semi-circle and the scratch running from it are the beginning of the image blank).

Manufacturing technique

On the outer side, there are traces of a push-plane work (they are deeper and more direct compared to the traces of dendrites). The remained dark surface has a light polishing. The through-hole is made with a reamer. There are no traces of flaring.

Use-wear traces

The surface on the edges has some scratches along the item. It indicates that the ivory was straightened, i.e. the item meant to use on a flattened surface (a head, a forehead). We can assume that the item is unfinished since there are no traces of the entire polishing.
