Bird with an eyelet

This is a figurine of a bird with an eyelet and short wings. The item has a well-shaped elongated head with a rather large beak and a short arched neck. The body is rounded, the wings are almost short, wide, slightly separated from the body. The tail part is short, but well modeled. The eyelet is made near the tail.

Manufacturing technique

In the area of the neck and tail part one can clearly see traces of the work with a planing knife. The plane of the tail (in the hole area) is flattened with a planing knife and scraping. On the right side of the bird sculpture, from the side of the back there are some traces of scraping. It is likely that it was the push-plane that was the main tool used in shaping the artifact. The nature and tool of drilling in the eyelet for hanging is not diagnosed.
